Citizens 4 Good Celebrates Community Champions at Maghull Community Association

On 6th July 2026, Citizens 4 Good brought together 10 inspiring nominees and recipients at Maghull Community Association for a special celebration recognising individuals who make a positive difference across Sefton. The event highlighted the dedication, compassion, and community spirit of local people whose efforts often go unnoticed but have a lasting impact on the lives of others

The event welcomed the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor Jennifer Corcoran, who joined nominees, their families, friends, and supporters in celebrating the remarkable contributions being made across local communities.

This summer’s nominees represented a wide range of community activity, from young volunteers and fundraisers to individuals creating connection and belonging through sport, gardening, and music. Others were recognised for giving up their time to cook for others, raise money for good causes, and help reduce loneliness and isolation within their communities.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Citizen Superstar Award, which was introduced earlier this year to recognise individuals or groups whose contribution goes above and beyond. This was the second time the award has been presented, and this year’s recipient was Daniel Hogan from Urban Health CIC.

Daniel was recognised for his commitment to creating accessible and welcoming spaces where people can connect, support one another, and improve their wellbeing. Through his work with Urban Health UK C.I.C., he has developed projects that support a wide range of people across the community. From football socials and bowls sessions focused on mental health and wellbeing to community litter-picking groups, Daniel brings people together in ways that feel natural, inclusive, and welcoming.

Catrin Hughes, Volunteer Development Officer, said:

“Citizens 4 Good is all about recognising the people who help create connection within our communities. Whether through volunteering, sharing their skills, offering support, or simply bringing people together, these individuals make a genuine difference to the lives of others. We’re proud to celebrate those who help build stronger, kinder, and more connected communities, and all our recipients are a fantastic example of the impact one person can have.”
