Corporate volunteering – also known as Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) – is a great way for businesses to support their local community by encouraging staff to take part in voluntary activities during work time. It’s often part of a company’s wider commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.

In Sefton, corporate volunteering can take many forms. This might include individual or team volunteering days, sharing professional skills with local charities, or building long-term partnerships with community organisations.

By getting involved, businesses can make a real difference locally while helping their employees develop new skills, strengthen teamwork, and feel more connected to the community. It’s also a great way to build a positive workplace culture and show your commitment to social value.

Support Sefton 4 Good

Sefton 4 Good is always looking for help to support local good causes. Some ways you can help are:

• Taking part in fundraising events such as running events, skydives, treks, triathalons and more
• Sponsoring our Citizens 4 Good awards which recognised Sefton residents who have a positive impact in their community and beyond.
• Donating equipment to local charitable groups, organisations requiring the items or responding to immediate need such as the war in Ukraine
• Taking part in community fundraising such as bucket collections
• Organising your own fundraiser such as a quiz, raffle, silent auction, sponsored silence or wine and cheese tasting
• Match funding
• Hold a training session for local community organisations if you work in a sector relevant to them. For example, how to use AI.
• Offering staff time to support local good causes in the Sefton community such as gardening, conservation, refurbishment or warehouse support at foodbanks (see more below)

Volunteer with a charity or group in Sefton

Together with Volunteer Centre Sefton, Sefton 4 Good can help groups, teams and individuals find volunteer roles within the Sefton community. Over the years, Volunteer Centre Sefton has worked with a number of organisations including government departments, multinationals and SEMs.

Suggested donation

We value the what corporate volunteering can offer the Sefton Community, but organising these events take a lot of staff time and resources. To help us cover the cost of this we would appreciate a suggested donation to Sefton 4 Good of £10 per person. This can be made via our Just Giving page.
