For the first few weeks after experiencing a distressing, frightening or traumatic event, it is normal to notice a range of reactions.

Stop Hate UK
Stop Hate UK are a national organisation supporting people who have witnessed or are affected by hate crime. If you are witnessing a crime taking place, you should report it to the police. Young people can use Stop Hate UK’s Call Hate Out service, which offers advice for people under 18.

Community Venues
Southport Community Centre on Norwood Road is open between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday for anyone who would like to talk, or be quiet or simply have a cup of tea and not be alone.
Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure is open weekdays from 10am until 2.30pm for company and a chat. Welcome Space will be operating 10am – 12pm Mondays and Fridays. Hot drinks, snacks & company are available.
Parenting 2000 (The Lodge, Mornington Road, Southport, Merseyside, PR9 0TS) is running services as usual including sessions for youth wellbeing and family support. They are opened Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Family Wellbeing Hubs on Linaker Street and Talbot Street will be open for members of the community to get support this week (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm) outside of the normal activities..
Woodvale and Ainsdale Community Association (Meadow Lane, Woodvale, Merseyside, PR8 3RS) is open Wednesdays between 11am – 1:30pm as a space of reflection or for those not wanting to be alone.
Southport FC (Haig Ave, Southport, PR8 6JZ) will be open from 10am – 3pm on Friday 2 August. Anyone who would like to come together and find support is welcome to drop in. Victim Support Merseyside will be there for anyone who would like to speak to them.
Venus Charity (215 Linacre Lane, Bootle, L20 6AD) will be holding drop in sessions between 4pm – 6pm on Thursdays and Mondays for any members of the local community affected.
Dandelion Days , Black Moss Lane, Scarisbrick, L40 9RN, are holding FREE quiet time sessions with their therapy ponies this Sunday 4 August from 10am- 12noon for the general population and 12 – 2pm for emergency service / healthcare workers and their families affected. Churches
Ainsdale Methodist Church on Liverpool Road PR8 3NQ will be open every weekday from 10am until 2.30pm for prayers, and quiet reflection. Entrance to the church is via Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure.
Christ Church will be open Wednesday 10am-12 noon, Thursday 2-4pm, Friday 10am-12noon and Saturday 10am-2pm for a quiet place or a place to talk.
Holy Trinity on Hoghton Street is open every day from 8am to 6pm with mass at 9.30am.
St John’s Church, Crossens is open for quiet reflection and lighting candles on Wednesday 11am-1pm, Friday 9am-11am and Saturday 9.30-11am.
The Salvation Army (65 Shakespeare Street, Southport, PR8 5AJ) will welcome all members of the community to their church service on Sunday’s from 10:30am.
Southport Baptist Church, Scarisbrick New Road, run a Place of Welcome on Friday mornings from 10am-12 noon for anyone to pop along for chat and a cuppa.

Fundraising and Appeals
The Community Foundation for Merseyside, in partnership with Sefton Council and Sefton CVS, has activated an urgent fundraising appeal for all those affected by the knife attack in Southport yesterday. The Southport Strong Together Appeal, which has already received its first donation of £50,000 from the Liverpool ONE Foundation, will help to meet the immediate and longer-term needs of those affected.
