Throughout 2024, Sefton 4 Good and Volunteer Centre Sefton teamed up on our Sefton 50 for 50 campaign. The aim was to bring together local communities through community centric events across the borough, encouraging participation in volunteering opportunities and celebrating those residents in Sefton who give back to their local community.
The focus was to put the number 50 as the target for the campaign to celebrate the 50th birthday year of the borough of Sefton. We wanted
To support 50 people into Volunteering
Giving 50 Volunteer Hours
Contributing 50 Good Deeds within the local community
And celebrating 50 residents at our Citizens 4 Good awards
We are delighted to say we reached our goals. We want to express a huge thank you to everyone who was involved; those who nominated a Citizen 4 Good, volunteered for a session; hosted a group, or the wonderful recipients of the awards who give their time for the good of the community . Together, we achieved:
72 Volunteers
Giving 389 Volunteer Hours
Contributing to 93 Good Deeds
And 83 Recipients of a Citizen 4 Good Award, including individuals, groups and a dog.

To reach our goals, we ran volunteer taster sessions throughout the year to support local charitable organisations and groups. We were facilitated by: The Canal and River Trust, Bootle Library, Friends of Waterloo Seafront Gardens, Friends of East Street Triangle, The Inclusion Network, Birkdale Community Hub and Library and Brighter Living Partnership.
Individuals, corporate volunteers and young people volunteered at our sessions. These included WSP, Pershing, Households into Work, Scarisbrick Hall School, Balfour Beatty, British Gas, Dilligenta, St Phillip Primary School, Waterloo Primary School and Squirrel the Miniature Shetland Pony.
