It’s easy to overlook The Inclusion Network, tucked away in a housing estate in Bootle with its entrance nestled between two houses. However, the impact they have on the local community, particularly for children and young people, is impossible to ignore.
The Inclusion Network provides positive activities and services for children and young people in the local area ranging from a Forest School Nursery, a Youth Club, a Holiday Club, a Winter Warm Space, Career Support and more. The Centre shares the space with Northfield Junior Football Club who have over 200 young footballers who play regularly in the local league.
On Friday 18 October, British Gas joined one of Sefton 4 Good’s volunteering taster sessions at The Inclusion Network. These sessions are running throughout 2024 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the borough of Sefton by bringing individuals and organisations together to give back to the community.
Nine British Gas employees joined Lauren from Sefton 4 Good and Jade from The Inclusion Network to revamp the centre. The aim was to brighten the paintwork up for the children to give them a more welcoming and fun environment to use for their various activities.
Over the day, the group redecorated the Football changing rooms (also used for other activities), the hallway and both toilets. The challenge was to create feature walls with borders of black and white, with a central yellow area to match the logo and football colours and give the white walls a freshen up.
