Do you know someone who makes a difference to your community and those that live there? Maybe they always  help their neighbours, do some wonderful community  gardening, yarn bombing or they are the driving force behind your youth group. Then show your appreciation by nominating them for a Citizens 4 Good award.

Citizens 4 Good is an event that recognises Sefton residents who make a positive difference in their local communities and beyond. There is no minimum or maximum age, as long as they are doing something that makes a positive difference to the community and those that live in it then submit your entry now!

Taking place on the 12th October, at Southport Town Hall from 5:30 pm, the event will be attended by the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor June Burns as well as the nominees and their families and the person that nominated them.

A joint initiative from Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) and the Mayor of Sefton’s Office, Citizen 4 Good recognises local people for the selfless acts, kindness and support that they provide to other members of the community.

Previous recipients have been nominated for a range of reasons such as those below:

Triss Ashry – Triss is a core member of her community and the surrounding area she lives in. Not only does she volunteer every weekday at the Feelgood Factory she also supports her vulnerable neighbours and refugees by going to the shop for newspapers and taking them to appointments.

Simon Reeve – A father of three, Simon works full time as a teacher, is a football coach for a local team and finds time to organise a group of 40 six to eight-year-old Beavers every Wednesday along with weekend activities too! Without Simon and the other leaders, these groups wouldn’t happen and many local children would miss out on vital opportunities.

Victoria Jones and Sam Kelly -. Vicky is the manager at the coffee shop MeCycle. Sam, who was 16 at the time, and has autism, was working on a placement in the shop when he noticed an elderly customer bent over his coffee and looking “strange”. Sam alerted Vicky and ran over to get a defibrillator from the train station.  Vicky, Sam and another member of staff worked with the defibrillator to resuscitate him until an ambulance arrived and took him to hospital. Due to Sam and Vicky’s actions the customer survived and he is a regular once more.
