16 Brave fundraisers Abseiled Liverpool Cathedral for Sefton 4 Good

Congratulations to our fundraisers who braved the elements on Saturday 15th August to raise money for Sefton 4 Good.

The day started with dark clouds, heavy rain and thunder storms, however, the showers couldn’t dampen our fundraisers’ enthusiasm. Luckily, the weather cleared in the afternoon in time for the event and our intrepid fundraisers took to the ropes to abseil down Liverpool Anglican Cathedral’s iconic West Door.

Descending 150ft, our brave abseilers have , so far, raised over £2400 for Sefton 4 Good which helps local good causes in the community. The Liverpool Cathedral Abseil is a unique experience and is a great way to raise money to help keep the borough of Sefton vibrant and resilient.

Five staff members from the Cheshire and Merseyside Resilience Hub (CMRH) took part as a team. One of the participants from CMRH said, ‘So we did it, we absolutely smashed it! Five members of the team came together and faced their fears of heights and abseiled 150 feet off the iconic Liverpool cathedral. We raised over £600 for Sefton 4 Good. One of the reasons we chose this is because it gives back to local communities.’

The staff at CMRH also created a video of their experience take a look.

Three staff members from Sefton CVS (the managing body of Sefton 4 Good) also took part. Between them they have so far raised over £800. Social prescriber, Katy Bryson said ‘I was really nervous initially, heart thumping in my chest when climbing up the ladder onto the platform but the staff were reassuring and calm and I loved it! Felt exhilarating coming down, and the view was amazing!’

‘We want to say a big congratulations to all our fundraisers. It’s not an easy feat to abseil off a platform 150ft up in the air,’ Said event organiser Lauren Jones. ‘We are really proud of all our fundraisers not only for facing their fears, but also for the amount they have raised. All of the vital donations from this event will go to help local good caused across Sefton. I want to give them all a big Thank you!’

There is still time left to donate to show support to our fundraisers. Head to JustGiving.
